Now there giving it away

Cornwall County Council generously gave 500 tonnes of road salt to Gloucestershire County Council who were running short in the current snowy weather. How come Cornwall CC had so much spare salt? Easy, they didn't bother to grit Cornwalls roads when it was snowy that's how. The major routes may have been done, but the minor roads certainly weren't even thouse on steep hills. Then Cornwall county council dont see to bother too much with roads around here, I reported a blocked culvert in November, it has still not been cleared and the water has now broken through the road and is running in inches deep water like a stream. The road surface has collapsed and all Highways have done is put up a sign saying "Temporary Road Surface" presumably to cover them from being sued if someone has an accident. Such is life in the Dutchy.

Hello Mr Grumpy ! don't be so hard on those who do a good job running the County of Cornwall. Men worked day and night keeping open the main roads so that transport could still move. Its a huge operation salting roads, and minor roads have to take less priority. Come on, give those guys a pat on the back, afterall Cornwall stayed Open. And as for that blocked culvert, give them another call reminding them its still blocked.

Thanks for your comment Funnyface, nice to hear from you again. I have no gripe whatsoever with the chaps that do the actual work for the council, in deed they are and have been very helpful indeed. My gripe is with their bosses who make all the decisions on how to waste our money.

I did contact them again about the road, it's scheduled for late May..... apparently they have run out of money, so only 3 months more of water gurgling up in the middle of the road and wet feet! I see the graffiti walls getting cleaned tho. I rest my case. keep smiling ! :-)
